Maysum Abdullah, 27, suffered injuries to his neck and hand after intervening when a teenage girl allegedly attacked fellow students with a knife at a school in Blackley, Manchester.
The girl was with her mother and a sibling near the shore in Laguna Beach, Calif., on Tuesday when she was pulled into the surf. Authorities had called off the search on Wednesday.
