A jury has reached a verdict in the trial over Facebook's alleged failure to protect users from a third-party quiz that harvested data from 87 million profiles.
The verdict could, "in theory," result in an award of about $219 billion in civil penalties, Attorney General Raul Torrez said in a news conference Friday.
The two-week trial in New Mexico centered on accusations Facebook deceived users about a data breach.
